What Are the Latest Social Media Updates? [March 2018]

If you’re a social media marketer who always strives to succeed on social media platforms, keeping up with the new feature updates and putting them into full use are extremely important.

Yes, at Exabytes Digital, it’s our job to explore all possibilities and make full use of all the latest technology and tools on the social media to bring more value to our customers.

In this blog post, I will summarize all the latest social media updates that you should know. A few of them can even become the game changer for your next social media strategy.

Let’s explore now!

Shoppable Instagram Posts

The new Instagram feature is able to let merchants tag up to 5 products per single image or 20 products per multi-image post.

In fact, this update has already been rolled out in the US, and Instagram is expanding this feature internationally to businesses in the UK, Australia, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Brazil in March 2018. We expect this new update to launch very soon to the whole world.

The great thing is that once a post using Shopping for Instagram is tapped, it displays pop-ups with prices and a link to a new page. This can potentially save users lots of time, as they can just click to the merchant’s catalogue right away and complete the purchase.

LinkedIn New Sticker and Text Option for Videos

If you are an active LinkedIn user, you should definitely use the built-in video feature. Although it’s a little late, now you can use videos to connect with your professional network in a creative way.

LinkedIn just introduced two new features to enhance your videos:

  • Filters for sharing everyday work moments. You can give your work buddy a “Work High Five,” swap ideas on passionate projects with “Side Hustle” or share the latest with the “On the Air” filter. In the future, you’ll see more filters you can use in your professional life.
  • Text styles for adding context so your community knows what’s happening, even when the sound is off. LinkedIn is launching three styles – FifthAve, Geometric and Plain – with more to come.

Same goes to Facebook Messenger. Admin privileges allows you to approve new members before they join your group chat.
